المستخلص

This study aims at showing the importance of the use of documents in historical research, especially that the administrative bodies have produced a considerable number of documents through the ages. These documents are loaded with precious information that the researcher cannot find in other sources of information. In addition to their main purpose of registering the minutes of days and years, confirming duties and rights, they became, with ages, a rich material of narrating the events of past periods. Hence, historians, and other researchers find refuge in these resources as reflections of the age in which they were written, to depend on while writing their researches.
The study is applied on the theses of Master granted by the Faculty of Arts in Misrata University, Lybia. These theses cover various historical topics through various ages. The researcher has come to some conclusions and put some recommendations.
